Cabinet Refacing or Full Replacement

Folsom homes from the late 1980s and 1990s were built with better cabinet boxes than most people assume. The doors are what aged.

Folsom cabinet refacing keeps the boxes and replaces doors, drawer fronts and the visible veneer. Full replacement removes everything. Box condition decides which route makes sense, not the year on the deed. Solid plywood boxes are worth keeping. Particleboard boxes with water damage under the sink rarely survive.

Layout decides the rest. If your current cabinet positions work, reface. If you want a taller upper run, a different island or a pantry where a wall stands now, replacement makes more sense.

Refacing typically finishes in under a week with your kitchen mostly usable. Replacement runs longer and costs more.

Cabinet painting is a third route. Lower cost, works when the door style still suits you, less durable than a factory finish.

Opening Up a Closed-Plan Kitchen

Removing that wall changes these homes more than any other single project. Whether it carries load determines cost, and our project manager checks framing during design rather than after demo starts.

Countertop Replacement

A Folsom countertop project rarely stays a countertop project.

Homes in the newer sections south of Highway 50 often have builder-grade slabs that are structurally fine but visually generic. That is an upgrade, not a repair.

Pantry and Custom Storage

Folsom homes have room. What they lack is storage that works the way you use the kitchen.

A 1990s pantry closet with wire shelving holds less than a purpose-built cabinet half its width. Deep corner base cabinets swallow small appliances. Uppers stop at a soffit instead of the ceiling, losing a full shelf across the room.

Custom cabinets fix it. Pull-out pantry towers replace deep shelving. Appliance garages keep the counter clear. Drawer bases hold pots better than doors and shelves ever did.

Split-level Folsom homes often have odd landings and under-stair space that stock cabinetry cannot touch. Those become mudroom lockers, wine storage or a second pantry.

Bathroom cabinets work the same way. A linen tower sized to your wall beats a freestanding cabinet crowding the doorway.

Tub-to-Shower Conversion

Primary bathrooms in Folsom homes from the 1990s almost all include a large soaking tub. Most get used once or twice, then spend two decades collecting dust and requiring cleaning.

Converting that footprint to a walk-in shower reclaims real space. You gain a bench, a proper niche and a drying area that does not require stepping over a tub wall.

The work covers demo, new waterproofing, a repositioned drain and tile or solid-surface walls. Most conversions finish inside two weeks.

The oversized tubs common in this era can be awkward to remove, particularly in second-floor bathrooms. Our crews plan that before demo day.

Keep a tub in a secondary bathroom if resale matters. Buyers with young children still look for one.

Aging-in-Place Bathroom Updates

Folsom holds a large share of original owners who bought in the 1990s and never moved. Thirty years in one house changes what a bathroom needs to do.

Aging-in-place work does not have to look clinical. A curbless shower reads as a design choice. Blocking behind the tile lets grab bars go in now or later without opening walls twice. A comfort-height vanity and a taller toilet reduce daily strain.

Lever handles replace knobs. Lighting gets brighter at the mirror and inside the shower. Non-slip tile handles wet floors without the institutional look.
