This Davis, CA home received a modern makeover that shows just how transformative cabinet refacing can be when thinking about your next kitchen or bath remodel. The Power of Cabinet Refacing
We began by carefully removing the existing cabinet doors and drawers, then prepped the cabinet boxes for our re-skinning process. This involves applying real wood, veneer, or laminate over the existing structure, giving cabinets a completely fresh look without a full tear-out.
As part of the remodel, our team also updated lighting by adding a recessed can lights to highlight floating shelves. We filled in a small light box, refinished surfaces with new texture, and installed an owner-provided pendant for a finishing touch.

For style, the homeowners selected a standard overlay design with a maple interior look. We installed new DBQ doors in the color Moonlight, crafted in Deco/RTF, creating a clean, modern finish.
To boost functionality, we built and installed 29 hardwood beech dovetail drawers (Kitchen Mart provides dovetail drawers, standard with our custom cabinet refacing) and one roll-out—all soft close for smooth operation. A large Deco/RTF crown molding capped the design, giving the cabinetry a crisp, elegant frame.
We also added custom features that highlight what’s possible with refacing, including:
- Cherry Mocha floating shelves
- Four new glass cabinet doors
- A sliding cutting board, built to fit perfectly
- Modified oven cut-out for new double oven
- Six cabinet conversions from doors to drawers for easier storage access
- Installed two 40″ undercabinet lights and LED puck lights

Countertops and Backsplash
To complement the cabinetry, we fabricated and installed three slabs of Silestone Classic Calacutta Suede quartz countertops. For the backsplash, we installed a full-height 3×12 Splendor Grey subway tile. Together, these surfaces created clean lines and a modern, cohesive look.
Fireplace Transformation
This remodel went beyond the kitchen. We also refreshed the fireplace with a striking new surround made of St. Croix Flint 12×24 tile and matching trim. To complete the design, our craftsmen built a custom mantle in Cherry Mocha—perfectly matched to the new floating shelves for a polished, unified appearance.
